School Ends June 10

The 2009-2010 school year is coming to a close
and we would like to encourage all of you to keep
plugging away at your work. The end of the year
often finds students dreaming about the upcoming
summer break and they can often forget to
complete all of their work.

Remember: a good student is always a good
student. not just some of the time, but every class,
every day.

Thanks, and have a great week!!!

The Manzanar project

In December the HS students were introduced to the Manzanar Project by one of our school parents, Mr. Zaggaftahiri. This is a tree planting program using Mangrove trees, saltwater, iron cans, and fishwaste to provide solutions from hunger, poverty, erosion, and provide necessary local jobs.

Radio Mauritanie

The HS students visited Radio Mauritanie in February. They were taken on a tour of the radio station, recorded a short interview in the conference studio, visited the editing stations and the archives, and learned about the responsibilites and restrictions of journalists working for the nationally run radio station.

The Big Africa Cycle with Peter Goselow

Peter Gostelow is a bicyclist who is traveling from England all the way down to Cape Town in South Africa. This is his second major trip. His first started in Japan and ended in England. It took three years to complete. Peter came to schoolin February and presented his trips on a well done Power Point presentation. He also showed us his bike and tent along with all the equipment he uses. He talked to us about his past trip and why he's going for the challenge to cross Africa. It is all for a good cause, and it's for helping people in Africa to fight against Malaria.
